1 in 5 employees are highly disengaged
Layoffs, stress, budget cuts – the recession has been one of the hardest times for the people in our world today. As 2011 came around, we sought out signs of recovery, however, it’s hard to be optimistic in times of chaos and despair. The mix of job insecurity and co-workers being let go has left us all with little hope for our personal futures. It’s no wonder employees have become disconnected at work, there’s so much to fear!
If employees and managers are so caught up worrying about the recession around them and not focusing on their career, of course they’re gonna be disengaged!
So how can you engage your employees?
Recognize great work: Even if it seems like an insignificant thing to recognize good work, sweating the small stuff can pay dividends to you and your colleagues.
Emphasize the positive: It turns out, people are persuaded more by comments framed in a positive manner than negative.
Handling Underperformance: Even just one underperformer on your team can drag down the whole group’s performance and sorely alter team dynamics for the worse.
How can YOU get engaged?
3 ways to love your work: While we might seem more connected than ever, it’s too easy to feel disconnected and unappreciated at work. You can make more love at work. But to do so, you need to take charge.
