Infographic: Worker’s of the World Engage!

Japan’s infamous salarymen are legendary for their work ethic. Yet a recent survey by Fast Company found levels of engagement among employees in the land of the rising sun at a paltry 3%.

American workers seem highly engaged by comparison, at 29%. But that still leaves an overwhelming majority longing for 5 pm so they can punch the clock and check out (if they haven’t already).

Interestingly, Fast Company also looked at how employee engagement has been affected over the last 40 years by the shift to a largely service-driven economy.
