Challenge
Facebook was looking for a tool to help each member of its team get the feedback they need to learn, develop and stay on track. A tool that would allow people to give recognition, to share feedback and coaching, and to collect and calibrate performance feedback. They found that the existing legacy software in the performance management space reflected a more traditional mindset - built around hierarchy, focused primarily on 'development opportunities' and built for use at pre-defined intervals during the year. They did not reflect the Facebook product and culture - social, real-time, lightweight and intuitive.
Solution
Rypple makes it easy to share recognition and feedback in real-time.
Facebook uses Rypple for:
Performance summaries
We built Loops specifically for Facebook, to create a lightweight and more reliable approach to performance reviews. Consistent with Facebook's culture, Loops are social, focused on outcomes, and really easy to use.
Real-time feedback and coaching
Facebook is an extremely fast moving organization that cares deeply about learning and iteration. They summarize performance formally twice a year and have smaller, feedback-centric conversations on an ad-hoc basis.
Recognition
The people at Facebook know recognition goes a long way and have made it easy in their internal tools for employees to recognize one another via Rypple.
Intern onboarding and mentorship
The Facebook team uses Rypple to streamline the internship process and collect the right information quickly and effectively.
