Ask your boss for feedback on a regular basis and be sure to set the tone as to what type of feedback you desire. You’ve already built a good relationship with your boss, so you’ll likely know if you need to guide her on how critical she should be in her feedback. This is one of the best insurance policies to keeping your job. Make sure you listen when she is talking. Ask for specific examples. Share your needs and concerns. Negotiate to have more frequent reviews than the annual performance reviews. And always, always, thank your boss when she is done. Feedback is a gift – a huge growth opportunity.
